Man Convicted of Killing Couple in an Accident Gets Into Another Accident on His Way to Sentencing

Twenty-six-year-old Sirvonte De Romeo Rice was involved in a car accident that occurred while he was traveling in a car that was taking him to the Summit County Courthouse. He was transported at a local hospital where he got medical treatment.

Rice pleaded guilty on Monday to two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide, one count of vehicular assault, and one of not stopping after an accident after he allegedly passed a stop sign during an accident that occurred on December 30, 2018. Then he killed two other people in  an accident and did not stop after the accident.

The twenty-six-year-old woman was identified as the driver by the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP).  She told officers that she lied about the situation and that she was a passenger in Rice’s vehicle. Rice later turned himself to the authorities on January 16, 2019.

Rice drove a 2018 Dodge Charger and was speeding above the limit when he crashed with a 2003 Chevrolet Impala. Two people, thirty-four-year-old Nicholas Bobo and his partner twenty-eight-year-old Arielle Davis lost their lives in the accident. Bobo died at the scene, and Davis passed away later in Akron City Hospital.

Summit County Common Pleas Judge Susan Baker Ross ordered twelve years of prison time for Rice.

He is required to serve eight years in prison, before attaining eligibility for a judicial release filing. The court decided to suspend Rice’s driver’s license for fifteen years.
