The Ohio State Highway Patrol informed that the Canton Post works on an investigation of a four-car collision that occurred in Marlboro Township. A thirty-year-old man from Alliance lost his life in the accident.
The Highway Patrol informed that the accident happened in the early morning hours on State Route 173 between State Route 44 and Paris Avenue.
Thirty-year-old Clinton J. McGuire of Alliance was driving his vehicle, a 2012 Ford Focus west on SR-173, when he moved into the eastbound lane, trying to pass a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica. The other vehicle was driven by a fifty-four-year-old woman of Alliance that was also traveling west.
According to the High Patrol, McGuire was passing on a hilltop over a double yellow line when he struck another vehicle, a 2015 Hyundai Elantra, driven by a twenty-seven-year-old woman, who was traveling east.
McGuire then hit into the Chrysler and pushed it off the highway into a channel.
Once the crash settled, the Chrysler hit the Ford that was stopped in the west travel lane.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol confirmed that McGuire died on the scene.
The twenty-seven-year-old woman who was driving the Hyundai was transported to the Mercy Hospital and later was moved to Akron City Hospital due to life-threatening injuries.
The fifty-four-year-old woman was treated at the scene; she did not have serious injuries.
Every person involved in the accident wore a seat belt at the time of the accident. Investigation excludes drugs or alcohol as factors for this accident.
SR-173 between SR-44 and Paris Avenue were closed for 3.5 hours. Ohio Department of Transportation assisted the Ohio State Highway Patrol on the scene of the collision.
